New Delhi: The All India Football Federation is keen to adopt a truncated format for the Indian Super League‘s delayed 2025-26 edition to get underway while clubs remain eager to receive ‘long-term’ clarity on future before commitment.

In this backdrop on Wednesday, AIFF’s three-member committee tabled before clubs two prospective formats on how to conduct the league to ensure continuance of the show, though essential features such as financials and broadcast details weren’t included in discussions.

In front of representative of five clubs, two of whom were present online, AIFF unveiled a 19-match per side format, which can extend to 21 games with semi-finals and a final, subject to Asian Football Confederation’s clarification on recognition of Durand Cup and Super Cup matches.
