New Delhi: Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Sunday welcomed the Union Budget 2026, presented today by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, saying it gives strong attention to the tourism and culture sectors. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Finance Minister for recognising tourism as a key driver of economic growth, employment and cultural preservation.
Highlighting major announcements, Shekhawat, exclusively speaking to News9, said the proposal to establish a National Institute of Hospitality comes at a crucial time, as India’s tourism sector continues to expand rapidly. With demand for hospitality services rising, he stressed that trained manpower is the need of the hour. The new institute, he said, will help create a skilled workforce and strengthen the hospitality ecosystem across the country.
