BMC elections 2026: Voting begins for civic polls, over 3.48 crore people to vote today |
Mumbai: Voting for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections began at 7:30 am today. The Maharashtra civic body polls are being held across 29 corporations, while vote counting will take place tomorrow, January 16.
Elections are being held for 2,869 seats across the state, spanning 893 wards. As many as 15,931 candidates are contesting, including around 1,700 in Mumbai and 1,166 in Pune. Polling booths will remain open from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm.
Several major municipal corporations are going to the polls, such as Mumbai, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Kolhapur, Vasai-Virar, Kalyan-Dombivli,........
