From corridors to classrooms, CBSE tightens school safety norms with mandatory CCTV monitoring

New Delhi: In a move to boost school safety, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed all the schools to install high-resolution CCTV cameras with audio-visual facility at all places in school premises, including entry points, lobbies, corridors, staircases, labs, library, classrooms, canteen area and store room.

The Board has made an important amendment in Chapter 4 of the Affiliation Bye-Laws 2018 with respect to safety in the schools. According to the manual on safety and Security of children in schools, NCPCR, “School Safety” has been defined as creating a safe environment for children starting from their homes to their schools and back.
