Why has Tharoor ‘the politician’ failed his party by praising the Kerala government?

It is acceptable for a politician to praise an opponent at an individual level. It is also acceptable for political opponents to pay a visit to each other during family functions. However, it is considered a sin if one politician praises the rival political party or government. Especially when ‘that party’ has been in power in the state for the last ten years and ‘your party’ is trying all the tricks in the trade to unseat it from power.
