Salem: In a shocking case that unfolded from the hills of Yercaud, a 22-year-old man has confessed to luring his Instagram lover to a coffee plantation, murdering her after a romantic encounter, and then mailing her wedding chain (thali) to her husband in a cruel attempt to stage her disappearance. The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Sumathi, a resident of Maramangalam village.
The incident came to light when Sumathi’s husband, Shanmugam (28), a lorry driver, filed a missing person complaint on December 23 after she failed to return home. The case took a macabre turn when a bus driver delivered a parcel to a local grocery store, instructing it be given to Shanmugam. Upon opening it, he found his wife’s thali inside.
Parcel Reveals Culprit, Leads to Grisly Confession
Acting on the parcel trail, Shanmugam and the police identified the sender as Venkatesh (22), also from Maramangalam. When questioned,........
