Vellore: The Tamil Nadu State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) has imposed a collective penalty of ₹9 lakh on six female police officers for gross dereliction of duty in the horrific sexual assault case of a 15-year-old girl from Vellore.

The case stems from a 2022 incident where the minor was allegedly lured by a woman named Mohanapriya to a house and sexually assaulted by a man identified as Santosh Kumar. Following the initial assault, the victim was reportedly threatened, forced into prostitution, and subjected to physical violence to ensure her silence.
