Australia set for first South Africa Test tour since Sandpaper Gate as CSA announces 2026/27 home season

South Africa will host Australia, Bangladesh and England in a busy 2026-27 home season, starting from September 24.

New Delhi: Australia will return to South Africa to play a three-match Test series in 2026-27, marking their first red-ball visit to the country since the infamous 2018 Sandpaper-Gate incident in Cape Town. Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced a busy 2026-27 home season for the Proteas men, with England and Bangladesh also touring the country.

The home season will begin with a three-match ODI series against Australia, which will start on September 24 at the Kingsmead Stadium. The reigning World Test Champions will continue their title-defence with a three-match Test series against the Aussies, which will begin on October 9 in Durban.

The next two Test matches will be played in Gqeberha from October 18 and Newlands from October 27. After that, Bangladesh will travel to South Africa for a multi-format tour, which will start with a two-match Test series. The opening match of the series will be played at the Wanderers Stadium from November 15-19, while Centurion will host the second Test on November 23.

The three-match ODI series against Bangladesh will be played from December 1-7 in East London, Gqeberha and Cape Town, respectively. The three T20I matches will be played in Kimberley, Benoni and Centurion from December 10-13.

The three-match Test series against England will start at the Wanderers Stadium on December 17, followed by the Boxing Day Test match at the SuperSport Park, and the New Year’s Test at Newlands Cricket Ground. South Africa’s home season will end with a three-match ODI series against England, starting from January 10.
