OYO Rooms should stick to providing hospitality & let people take care of their ethics!

OYO Rooms has thrown a spanner in the plans of young couples just a month ahead of Valentine’s Day by changing its check-in policy for rooms for couples. This has left many wondering as to when OYO, the travel booking company, turned into a firm giving moral policing lectures. Under OYO’s new check-in rules, unmarried couples will no longer be able to book rooms in the company’s partner hotels. The company has currently started this rule in Meerut town, Uttar Pradesh.

As per the guidelines effective from this year, unmarried couples will not be welcomed to check-in, and all couples will be asked to submit valid proof of their relationship at the time of check-in, including bookings made online.

As per the company’s statement, OYO has given its partner hotels the right to reject the booking of couples at their discretion in sync with local social sensitivities. OYO has directed its partner hotels in Meerut to ensure this with immediate effect.
