Formed with great pomp and show in June 2023 with the aim of driving the PM Modi-led BJP government out of power, the Opposition Alliance, INDIA Bloc after failing to stop Narendra Modi become the prime minister for the third time in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections has been failing to make a mark in the Assembly polls held thus far.
It may be noted that in 2023, 26 major Opposition parties of the country prepared to contest the Lok Sabha elections together and formed the I.N.D.I.A. alliance (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance). The command of this alliance is currently with the Congress, whose president is Mallikarjun Kharge, where the Gandhis call the shots. However, even after the completion of the Lok Sabha elections, the INDIA bloc could not get an absolute majority, after which the parties involved in it are now feeling uncomfortable.
The first to pick up the flag of discontent was the Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party which announced separation from Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra. Here the Samajwadi Party has announced its separation from the opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi and the SP state president of Maharashtra also intensified the new political stir by announcing the separation of his party from MVA. After his announcement, the INDI Alliance is now being said to be breaking up in the corridors of politics. Earlier also, a conflict between Samajwadi Party and Congress was visible in the assembly elections of Madhya Pradesh, when the Congress refused to give more seats to Samajwadi Party. However, despite this, SP contested the elections together with Congress.
