New Delhi: In an exclusive conversation with TV9, filmmaker Amar Kaushik opened up about his vision for the ever-expanding Maddock Cinematic Universe (MCU) and how it’s built on stories, not stardom. “Stars don’t create the universe. Stars are a part of the universe,” Kaushik shared, emphasising that the heart of Maddock’s universe lies in its rooted, desi storytelling rather than celebrity power.

How do you intend to take the characters of Maddock Cinematic Universe forward and take them beyond stars?

We never thought of stars when we were conceptualising this film universe. Stars don’t create the universe. Stars are a part of the universe. That’s how nature is. And we’re following that. Our main focus has always been the story and how we take it forward. We worked on intertwining the characters within the universe and making every subsequent film bigger. Our focus has never been on stars. The soul of our film universe is a rooted Desi story.
