Skill India Mission’s JSS scheme requires boost in budget, coverage, facilities, says govt in parliament

New Delhi: A government-commissioned third-party evaluation has recommended a higher budget allocation, expansion to uncovered districts and improved infrastructure for the Jan Shiksha Sansthan (JSS) scheme. The evaluation found that the scheme largely caters to people with limited formal education with more than half of the beneficiaries having studied only up to Class 10. It also highlighted the need for better training facilities to improve the quality and reach of vocational education.

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) said the study was conducted in 2025 by the Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management (AJNIFM), Faridabad, as part of a third-party assessment of the scheme.
