Ukraine weighs legalising porn to fund war, buy 30,000 drones
Ukraine is considering legalising and taxing its largely underground pornography industry, with lawmakers estimating the move could generate up to $25 million a year, which might help fund around 30,000 military drones.
New Delhi: Ukraine is reportedly considering an unusual way to raise additional money for its war effort against Russia, that is by legalising and taxing pornography.
A bill backed by Ukrainian lawmaker Yaroslav Zhelezniak seeks to remove criminal penalties for the production and distribution of pornography involving consenting adults and bring the industry into the formal economy. The proposal has already cleared its first reading in Parliament and is awaiting further consideration.
