New Delhi: The creators of South Park have temporarily renamed the long-running animated comedy ‘South America’, taking aim at US President Donald Trump’s efforts to rename geographical landmarks and locations in the name of ‘America’.

Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone announced the spoof ahead of the show’s 29th season, which is scheduled to premiere on September 16. The joke follows Trump’s moves to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the ‘Gulf of America’ and Lake Ontario as ‘Lake America’, as well as his suggestion that New Mexico could be renamed ‘New America’.
