Pakistan’s Under-19 cricket team was mistaken for asylum seekers by anti-immigration protesters who gathered outside their hotel in Portsmouth. The crowd dispersed after a Reform UK councillor confirmed the group were young cricketers touring England.

New Delhi: Pakistan’s Under-19 cricket team became the target of an anti-immigration protest in southern England after demonstrators mistakenly believed the young cricketers were asylum seekers staying at their hotel.

Around 40 to 50 protesters, many wearing masks or balaclavas, gathered outside the Marriott Hotel in Portsmouth on Tuesday evening. The hotel was being used as the base for Pakistan’s Under-19 team during its tour of England.
