FBI most-wanted fraudster Manjit Singh Bedi arrested; accused in Rs 5.6 crore US scam

Indian-origin US citizen Manjit Singh Bedi, wanted by the FBI for allegedly defrauding the US government of at least $600,000 through a SNAP benefits fraud scheme, has been arrested in Punjab. FBI Director Kash Patel said the agency is now working to secure his return to the US.

New Delhi: Punjab Police have arrested Manjit Singh Bedi, an Indian-born naturalised US citizen who was recently placed on the FBI’s ‘Most Wanted Fraudsters’ list over an alleged $600,000 (around ₹5.6 crore) fraud targeting the US government. Bedi was arrested in Jalandhar after police received information about his whereabouts.
