New Delhi: India became the centre of the Global South’s diplomatic push over the weekend as leaders of the expanded BRICS grouping gathered for the 18th summit, hosted by India in New Delhi. The summit comes amid wars, trade tensions and a rapidly shifting world order. With 11 member countries now accounting for nearly half the world’s population, the summit has put India at the heart of discussions on global governance and economic cooperation.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the BRICS Summit. He was speaking on the concluding day of the 2-day Summit being held at Delhi’s Bharat Mandapam. The PM exulted the power of BRICS nations and said that it came from both their diversity and cooperation.
