New Delhi: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Maharashtra civic elections 2026 have marked a significant change in the urban political landscape. The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance dominated in urban Maharashtra, currently leading in more than 1,800 seats.
In BMC polls, the BJP alone crossed the 90-ward mark out of 227-member BMC. With a new alliance taking over the charge, it’s the end of Shiv Sena’s uninterrupted authority of the civic body since 1997, whereas the BJP is taking control for the first time in India’s richest municipal corporation.
