India unveils national plan to pull carbon out of air
New Delhi: India has launched its first national plan to develop technology that scrubs harmful greenhouses gases from the atmosphere, then either stores them safely deep underground or turns them into useful products. The research and development roadmap for Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) was prepared by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), and launched by the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India, Ajay Kumar Sood on 2 December, 2025. Sood characterised the roadmap as a clear guide for interested stakeholders to work together on solving the air pollution problem.
