New Delhi: The Hubble Space Telescope has captured an edge-on spiral galaxy designated as UGC 10043 at a distance of 150 million light years in the constellation of Serpens. The galaxy is an edge-on spiral galaxy which are much rarer than the face-on spiral galaxy, which are oriented in a manner that the disc and the dust lanes are clearly visible from the vantage point of the Earth. In this spectacular image of UGC 10043, the central bulge of the galaxy is visible as well as tendrils of gas and dust which are the raw material from which new stars are formed.
