India opposes UNHRC motion condemning Iran crackdown, Tehran thanks New Delhi

New Delhi: Iran has formally acknowledged India’s support at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) after New Delhi voted against a resolution critical of Tehran during a special session of the Council.

Iran’s Ambassador to India, Mohammad Fathali, expressed appreciation for India’s stance, calling it principled and consistent with respect for sovereignty and multilateralism.

Taking to X, Fathali said he was grateful to the Indian government for opposing what he described as a “politically motivated” resolution against Iran at the UNHRC.
