Cold wave, dense fog set to grip north India as IMD warns of severe chill over next few days

New Delhi: India is in the grip of intense winter conditions, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) warning of cold wave to severe cold wave conditions across large parts of north and northwest India over the next few days. In a press release issued at 2 pm on Saturday, the India Meteorological Department said the cold spell is likely to peak on January 12 and 13 before gradually easing.

According to the IMD, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are very likely to experience cold wave to severe cold wave conditions on January 12 and 13. In Rajasthan, severe cold wave conditions are expected in many or some places on both days, easing slightly to cold wave conditions on January 14.
