Opinion | How PM Modi Leveraged PRAGATI For Futuristic Vikas

In the pursuit of a Viksit Bharat, a fully developed nation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently emphasised proactive governance as a cornerstone of national progress. One of his flagship initiatives, PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation), stands out as a transformative tool that has accelerated infrastructure development, resolved bottlenecks, and fostered cooperative federalism.

On December 31, 2025, PM Modi chaired the 50th PRAGATI meeting, marking a significant milestone. In this session, he reviewed five critical infrastructure projects across five states, with a cumulative value exceeding ₹40,000 crore, in sectors such as roads, railways, power, water, and coal. The meeting also focused on the PM SHRI scheme to elevate educational quality in selected schools, illustrating how PRAGATI’s reach now extends beyond physical infrastructure into social development.

Following the meeting, PM Modi explained through a series of social media posts how the PRAGATI ecosystem has accelerated projects worth over Rs 85 lakh crore over the past decade. He pointed out the revival of 377 key projects, with 94 per cent of pending issues—2,958 out of 3,162—successfully resolved, dramatically cutting delays, cost overruns, and coordination failures. Expressing gratitude to officers across the country, he reaffirmed the platform’s guiding principle: “Reform to simplify, Perform to deliver, Transform to impact," while stressing the integration of technology throughout project lifecycles to eliminate delays.
