Trump’s national address: Letters to the Editor — Dec. 20, 2025

The Issue: President Trump’s prime-time address boasting the progress he’s made since taking office.

Presidents request to have the spotlight when they have something vital to share with the nation. Instead, President Trump gave a vapid fireside chat as short on facts as it was on actual news (“$1,776 bonus for soldiers,” Dec. 18).

He can no longer read the room. His outright refusal to acknowledge the pain of his own base is costing him their support. Empathy would be off-brand for this man, but its absence is contributing to the growing rifts within the party.

There was no wokeness, no grandiose “yes we can” Obama motivational nonsense, no fake........
