The Issue: President Trump’s warnings to Iran’s rulers about deadly responses to anti-regime protests.
President Trump has indicated his willingness to step in and take an active role in securing safety for the Iranian people (“US to aid ‘freedom’ fight,” Jan. 11).
“Boots on the ground” has not been his favored expression of peacekeeping, and the extent of unrest in Iran means it would take a large force to secure peace, something Trump is unlikely to undertake. The safest solution will come from political and financial pressures.
Regardless, I see a very different conclusion in sight as compared to when Barack Obama was president and such demonstrations occurred in Iran.

Trump is going out of his way to help the troubled country of Iran. Venezuela is in much better shape now. The same fate awaits the good people of Iran........
