The ongoing war with Iran: Letters to the Editor — April 6, 2026

The Issue: The United States’ war with Iran entering into its second month with possible ground operations.

President Trump continues to say the Iranians want to make a deal (“Bridge-blast toll on Tehran,” April 3).

The only acceptable deal should include the unconditional surrender and ousting of the entire Iranian regime. The dangerous use of ground forces may be necessary in the coming days to achieve this goal.

This is when we, as patriotic Americans — Democrats and Republicans — need to support and pray for our heroes. To them, failure is not an option.

I agree with the president that Iran’s nuclear arsenal needs to be destroyed. When doing so, however, he needs to review the lessons learned from other leaders who caused needless loss of life by not having a realistic end state.

It’s time for the president to set aside his ego and take a back seat.

We can’t afford another failed cause, so Israel needs to take the lead in dismantling Iran’s nuclear arsenal. Iran may have a larger army and missile arsenal, but Israel holds a stronger military edge bolstered by better technology, US support and its air defense systems.

Schools should educate children, not train activists

Trump hate is now the ONLY thing the Democratic Party stands for

Trump claims Iran is asking the United States for a cease-fire, while leaders in Tehran call that claim completely false.

Trump said the United States could be finished in Iran within two to three weeks. Meanwhile, Iran insists that the Islamic Republic is determined to keep fighting.

Even if the United States halts its strikes in Iran and deploys additional troops to the region, Tehran is not signaling that it will be backing down.

The president may believe the war is coming to a close, but a truce takes two sides, and Iran is making it clear it isn’t there yet.

It’s interesting to watch the United States use largely its 20th-century equipment and tactics against a foe using 21st-century equipment and tactics. It doesn’t seem to be going well, either.

Iran seems to be able to hit many targets at will and might be able to take the whole Persian Gulf offline. Sure, Iran’s taking damage, but so is everybody else over there, including Israel.

There’s no good ending in sight, and it has the potential to give the Democrats wins this fall.

I’m amazed by Trump’s response to the United Kingdom’s position on the war in Iran.

First he wanted Europe to support Ukraine when he couldn’t get it done in 24 hours. Now he wants them to help out in Iran and protect their home front while the missiles are still flying. Europe can’t fight on three potential fronts.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia and other gulf states have bought billions of dollars worth of arms from the United States. Yet there’s been no requests for our gulf “allies” to participate and get their oil flowing.

Why all the fuss? Since Iran’s leaders are determined to continue to live in the seventh century, our president is actually planning to do them a favor by removing all signs of modernity, such as electricity. What a guy.

The endgame for Operation Epic Fury must be the removal of the mullahs from power. Keep blasting Iran’s abilities to fire missiles and drones at anyone.

Once the leaders in Tehran are on their knees, invite the leaders of the Gulf states to oversee the transition to true democracy in Iran by banning any religious leader from holding political office ever again.

Any American, regardless of party affiliation, who goes against the Trump administration for the war in Iran should be ashamed.

I don’t care what idiotic reason you come up with for this, don’t do it. Not only are you standing with Iran, you are insulting the servicemen who are over there fighting for our freedoms and also disrespecting their families. All this because of your hatred for our president.
