Shallow end of talent pool

Show business has spawned a specialty organization called a Talent Agency.

It’s a rest stop with phones. One, in particular, we’ll call NBW, which really stands for Nobody Works. They’re the liaison between Consumer and Consumee. However, all that’s consumed is time. Call and the person sought “is at lunch.” Some days their 10 a.m. meeting is over where to do lunch. 11-to-4 is this lunch. 4-to-5 p.m. is to discuss what was discussed at lunch. 5 p.m. everyone leaves because it’s been a tough day. Many exit carrying a bag. In it? Sweats for the gym.

No personnel are over 23. Anyone who really knows the business gets fired. Their previous training? Summer lifeguard.

The office says it wants young blood. One assistant VP........
