Back in July, a Toronto man filed a complaint about antisemitic posts on X. Almost six months later, he’s still waiting for the results of the investigation from Toronto’s Hate Crime Unit. Meanwhile, the antisemitic posts continue. Six months is too long. Six days is too long. Heck, six hours could be too long when it comes to radical extremists.

In mid-July, Michael Teper was alarmed when he saw a large collection of disturbing antisemitic posts shared on X, allegedly made by another Toronto man who posts under the name Wojtek Palczynski, whose profile links to a LinkedIn account under the same name.
After verifying the existence of the collected posts, Teper followed the process for filing a hate crime report by calling the Toronto Police Service’s non-emergency line and waiting to speak to a dispatcher. This, he said, can take up to three hours, but the chances of getting through in under an hour are better on Sundays.

On July 20, once Teper finally got through, two constables were sent to his house to file the report and to give him an occurrence number that he could use to follow up on the file. Teper was not given an approximate time for the investigation to be concluded.
