The Liberals now have their majority in the House of Commons, but the implications of that change may be more significant than Canadians realize. It’s not just that the Liberals will have an easier time passing legislation or that they no longer have to worry about confidence votes. In this interview with Rob Breakenridge, former Conservative MP Damien Kurek warns that the important work of committees in scrutinizing legislation and holding government to account is about to be trampled in what he calls a “democratic sin.”
