Last Thursday’s apparently uncoordinated attacks in Virginia and Michigan followed similar incidents in New York City and Austin, Texas. Last Friday, the U.S. Department of Justice announced the convictions of nine Antifa members who shot up an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention centre and wounded a police officer. This, as Luigi Mangione faces trial on charges that he assassinated UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson and Tyler Robinson is charged with the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

These recent incidents of violence, and too many more, all satisfy the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) definition of terrorism as “criminal acts committed by individuals and/or groups to further ideological goals” whether domestic or foreign in inspiration.
