Ten months away from a crucial provincial election, the Quebec Liberal Party (QLP) finds itself without a leader. Pablo Rodriguez, elected head of the party just last June, was forced to resign following a series of internal disputes and allegations of improprieties in the funding of his leadership campaign. For Rodriguez, a kind, affable man, this is nothing short of a tragedy. I am certain that he was unaware of the schemes devised by a few bad apples amongst his supporters. In a court of law, his innocence would be easy to establish. But this is the court of politics, where perceptions alone matter. Unfair. Cruel. Sad.
