Opinion: ‘Little Burgundy’ represents a part of Montreal history that is sacrosanct
Once again, English words in Montreal apparently offended — or at least annoyed members of the Office québécois de la langue française. But don’t worry, folks, the inspectors are on it.
This time, they had an issue with the name of a pub — specifically an English name in a neighbourhood that holds an important place in our city’s history. Pub Burgundy Lion is undeniably an English name, but it’s also a symbol of how the neighbourhood it’s in has evolved.
