A mentor can make all the difference

Kristen, Geneviève and Noura are 17-year-old girls in their second semester of CEGEP.

Just a few years earlier, their parents weren’t sure they would ever make it that far academically. Aside from the typical teenage struggles, each girl faced adversity in some way. Kristen’s family had fallen on tough times economically; Geneviève was mourning the unexpected loss of a close friend; and Noura was new to Montreal and felt a perpetual state of homesickness.

Their grades faltered as a result of their circumstances; their smiles faded and their futures, by all accounts, looked bleak.

Today, they are thriving in their first-choice college programs and enrolled in a number of extracurricular activities to prepare them for university. Kristen is running for student government. Geneviève is on the Dean’s List and Noura is leading the Model UN debate and proudly representing her homeland of Lebanon.
