Maura Higgins is the real winner of Love Island 2019 and I will forever bow down

1 10 0

The Love Island finale is just a few hours away meaning we’ll soon have another set of winners flogging discount codes and making countless ITV appearances, but regardless of tonight’s outcome, the real champion of series five is our reigning villa queen, her majesty Maura Higgins.

There’s been a long history of no-nonsense female contestants who’ve come in and shaken up the show, with Olivia Atwood taking precedent in series three before handing down the title to Megan Barton-Hanson last year.

This time around, it was Maura who was beseemed the throne and like Caroline Flack strutting into the villa each week, no one else was going to ever do it better.

Maura has served as ruler since she swanned in and ruffled feathers in the Majorcan compound for the better on Day 10, f*nny flutters and all.

The 28-year-old grid girl will be remembered for serving up the cold, hard truth in her head-turning County Longford lit, her undeniable horniness, calling out wrongdoings and of course carrying the entire weight of this summer’s offering.

Who can forget when she set the record straight when Amy Hart admitted she loved Curtis Pritchard and Lucie Donlan quizzed whether or not he felt the same? Her iconic reply: ‘Why are yuh asking her daht. He duzn’t,’ will be forever etched in our memories.
