The Budget handed local councils the power to introduce a tourism tax, and it’s worth spelling out what that means for anyone who enjoys a weekend by the coast or a family trip to the countryside.

Holiday parks, hotels and the small businesses that rely on them are already juggling rising labour costs, tighter regulations and persistent inflation in energy, materials and supply chains.
