America’s Fear of Becoming Something Else

The ‘Great Replacement Theory’ (GRT), an ace populariser of which is the eminent Tucker Carlsen, postulates that white people, especially in the United States, are being replaced.

In the theory’s schemata, there is an elimination game going on where whites are being outnumbered and thereby occluded. 

In this ‘elimination game’ by numbers, immigration stands implicated. 

Immigration and ‘schemes’ like Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) are usually held to be the handmaidens of this conspiracy. 

On the face of it, this sounds like a conspiracy theory. But probe a little deeper, and some degree of plausibility to and about the theory can be discerned. 

The question is: if there is some merit to the GRT, who is behind it? What explains it?

The answer to this question merits a wee digression. 

In democracies, where power is diffuse and where there are checks and balances on power and its exercise, a physical cabal of people usually cannot dictate public policy. 

It’s so because a democratic mandate lies with and is given by people to their representatives, and debate, discussion, and transparency in the formulation and execution of public policy are essential.

Given this, how can a certain policy paradigm be made dominant and then legitimate in the eyes of the people? 

There are multiple prongs to this issue that intersect, and the major one is ideological dominance presented as an ideational paradigm.
