A serious health crisis is sweeping through Kashmir, disguised in everyday treats. It hides in jars labelled “pure honey,” tubs of “village butter,” colourful sweets, and bakery goods.

What looks like a harmless cottage industry is actually a deep and dangerous network of food adulteration.

It takes advantage of families who don’t suspect a thing, the trust of elderly patients, and the vulnerability of children.

The threat is a direct attack on people’s health. And if Kashmir doesn’t act quickly with science, and firm laws, it could be staring at a generational health disaster far bigger than anything it is ready for.

In the Barthana-Parimpora stretch of Srinagar, the crisis is already showing its real size.

Homes that should be sheltering families have turned into hidden processing units, run by people who have moved in from different districts and rented these rooms for the job.

What looks like normal residential life from the outside turns into something unsettling once the doors shut.

Industrial sugar syrups are boiled and coloured to pass as honey. Cheap hydrogenated fats are melted to look like butter. Fake combs are crafted to fool buyers.

And the most worrying part is the sweets and bakery items made from chemical dyes, rancid oils, synthetic emulsifiers, and........
