Men, please don’t make the mistake I did before my recent heart attack

I’m writing this from a bed in the coronary care unit of a major west London hospital. I’ve woken up in trepidation, but without pain or tightness in my chest. This is an astonishing result.

On Saturday, I had a three-hour procedure during which talented and professional doctors at Hammersmith Hospital inserted not one, not two, but three stents in and around my increasingly dodgy ticker. Although it is surprisingly difficult to be more exactly precise, at some point during the previous two weeks I have had a heart attack, my second. The first was nine years ago.

I write about this in the hope that if just one man (the symptoms are a bit different for women) recognises........
