Watch out, Maga people. Those who fly too close to Donald Trump’s sun have a nasty habit of falling back to earth, and becoming ensnared in the coils of the Washington swamp.

So far, Trump himself is unscathed. But he has been learning the hard way that vetting nominees for high office has its merits and there are limits to ruling by decree.

The first victim of this Icarus effect was Matt Gaetz.
