With a $12 million raise led by a16z’s American Dynamism Fund, Unlimited Industries is betting that incentives—not regulation—are what slow U.S. construction.

Alex Modon, the founder of Unlimited Industries, believes America has a pervasive construction problem. “We’re getting worse at building these large and important things,” the founder, whose AI construction startup just raised $12 million from Andreessen Horowitz and CIV Ventures, tells Inc. Unlimited Industries’ platform uses AI for everything from designing schematics and procuring materials to eventually actually building projects. Founded earlier this year and valued at $50 million, the company is already involved in datacenter, mining, and other infrastructure projects.
Modon isn’t the first to diagnose America’s construction problem: Much ink has been spilled recently detailing how the U.S. has fallen behind on massive construction projects.
