Many executives have changed – or are changing — their language around DEI efforts. But one expert says these changes aren’t likely to provide any legal protection.

Business leaders are rewording their DEI programs to sidestep controversy – but that might only get them so far. What you do is more important than what you say.
Wary of critics and lawsuits, more than 50 percent of senior executives surveyed in a new report from the Conference Board said that they had adjusted their DEI terminology over the past year, as of April – and an additional 20 percent are considering doing so.
