The 9-to-5 work day has been the norm since Henry Ford instituted the 40-hour workweek a century ago. Now billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban says artificial intelligence is about to change it for the better—at least for workers.

“Smart, bigger companies will enable their employees to create and use agents (within security guardrails), improve their productivity,” Cuban just wrote on X. “But most importantly, they will reduce their workday by an hour to start. Same pay.”

Predicting a world where workers could get an extra hour of sleep and log into work an hour later and still take home the same salary is a pivotal choice. But one that Cuban is more than qualified to make.

The Dallas Mavericks owner and a Shark Tank judge has a successful track record of spotting workplace shifts long before the mainstream takes notice. Shaan Patel, founder and CEO of Prep Expert, a SAT and ACT prep course service, credits Cuban for his guidance on grow his business with tech.

“One of the most impactful pieces of advice Mark Cuban has given me is to focus on scalability and leverage technology to grow the business,” Patel told GoBankingRates.

“Mark emphasized the importance of creating systems and processes that allow the business to expand without being limited by physical or logistical constraints. This advice has been pivotal in transforming Prep Expert from a small operation into a nationally recognized brand.”

And Cuban’s advice on thinking long term helped Bloomfilter’s co-founder Erik Servinghaus’ company stay ahead of the curve. “Looking forward, as I face the ups and downs of being an entrepreneur, his suggestions help me stay focused on important things: steady growth, new ideas and making long-lasting positive changes,” Servinghaus explained.
