According to Waste Managed, the leading Waste Management company in the UK, a third of all food produced globally is thrown away an the UK alone wastes approximately 9.52 million tonnes of food every year.

Now, we are not as individuals solely responsible for this excessive waste. In fact, according to the experts at Business Waste, only 60% of food waste in the UK is from households.

That being said, we could all be doing better and I know for myself that I am no exception. I have begrudgingly thrown out fruits, vegetables, milk and even meat when they have gone bad in my fridge after being forgotten about.
