National security adviser Michael Waltz is reportedly leaving the Trump administration following a bombshell report in The Atlantic that revealed he accidentally added a reporter to a group chat discussing highly sensitive national security matters.

Trump himself confirmed the development on social media on Thursday afternoon, adding that Secretary of State Marco Rubio would be assuming Waltz’s responsibilities in an interim capacity.

His imminent departure, alongside that of his deputy Alex Wong, comes after he inadvertently invited Atlantic Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey Goldberg to join a group thread with senior administration officials, including Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth and Vice President JD Vance, on encrypted messaging app Signal to discuss upcoming military strikes on Houthi targets........
