'Cult Alert': Marco Rubio Skewered For Fawning Comments On Trump

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio speaks to traveling journalists at the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, on Nov. 12, 2025 after the G7 foreign ministers meeting.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio found himself on the other end of relentless social media ridicule after making a dubious claim about President Donald Trump.

On Wednesday, the State Department renamed the former Institute of Peace to the Donald J. Trump Institute of Peace in order to, as the department phrased on social media, “reflect the greatest dealmaker in our nation’s history.”

The Secretary of State promoted the name change on his own account, where he fanboyed out on the president by claiming ― dubiously, as we said up above — that “President Trump will be remembered by history as the President of Peace,” and that “it’s time our State Department display that.”

President Trump will be remembered by history as the President of Peace. It's time our State Department display that. https://t.co/NBvmL5zksn

Rubio is, of course, entitled to his opinion, be it truly sincere or to curry favor with a notoriously mercurial boss.

However, many people on social media thought Rubio’s post sounded more like a “cult alert,” especially considering Trump ― the so-called “President of Peace” ― recentlyrenamed the Department of Defence as the “Department of War.”

A hefty amount of ridicule ensued.

You're in a fucking cult.
Peaceful presidents don't threaten other nations and drone strike civilian........
