Weapons star Amy Madigan has admitted she’s “incredibly moved” to have been nominated for a Golden Globe for her performance in the hit horror movie.
The moment Weapons hit cinemas earlier this year, fans immediately began calling for Amy to be recognised during awards season for her performance as the sinister “Aunt Gladys” character.
Given the various awards bodies’ reluctance to acknowledge horror films, though, many thought a nomination for Amy could be out of the question.
However, on Monday, it was announced she was up against Ariana Grande, Elle Fanning, Emily Blunt, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas and Teyana Taylor in the Best Supporting Actress category at next month’s Golden Globes.
In a statement, she enthused: “I am incredibly moved to be recognised by the Golden Globes today for my work as ‘Aunt Gladys’ in Zach Cregger’s film Weapons, and for also recognising the film in the Box Office & Cinematic Achievement category.
