Small Axe, I May Destroy You, Adult Material And The Crown Lead TV Bafta Nominations

Small Axe, I May Destroy You, Adult Material and The Crown are the big nominees at this year’s TV Bafta awards.

Steve McQueen’s BBC anthology series, Small Axe, has picked up the most nominations with six, including two Leading Actor nods for John Boyega and Shaun Parkes and a Leading Actress nomination for Letitia Wright.

Malachi Kirby and Micheal Ward have also been nominated for Supporting Actor, while the show was shortlisted in the Mini Series category.

I May Destroy You, The Crown and Adult Material tied with four nominations a piece.

I May Destroy You’s writer, creator and star Michaela Coel was named in the Leading Actress Category, with co-star Paapa Essiedu nominated for Leading Actor and Weruche Opia for Supporting Actress and the show nominated for Mini Series.

Meanwhile, The Crown is in the running for Best Drama Series, with Josh O’Connor nominated for Leading Actor, Tobias Menzies for Supporting Actor and Helena Bonham Carter for Supporting Actress.

Adult Material’s Hayley Squires was shortlisted for Leading Actress, Sienna Kelly for Supporting Actress and Rupert Everett Supporting Actor, while the show was nominated in the Mini Series category.

Other nominees include Normal People’s Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones, Billie Piper for I Hate Suzie and Sex Education’s Ncuti Gatwa, Aimee Lou Wood and Emma Mackey.

There’s also nominations for Strictly Come Dancing presenter Claudia Winkleman, The Masked Singer and Ant And Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
