Kemi Badenoch: Sandie Peggie 'put through hell' in NHS Fife employment tribunal |
Sandie Peggie has been “put through hell” in her employment tribunal against NHS Fife, Kemi Badenoch has said as she warned government over transgender guidance.
The Tory leader said it was a “disgrace” that guidance from the UK’s equality watchdog had not been published, following a private meeting with Ms Peggie on Thursday.
Ms Peggie was suspended by NHS Fife after she complained about having to share a changing room with transgender medic Dr Beth Upton at Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy on Christmas Eve 2023.
The judgment was published in early December and found the health board had harassed Ms Peggie on four counts.
It was a partial win for the nurse, with claims on discrimination and victimisation on the basis of her gender critical beliefs dismissed.
There has been controversy following the ruling, with employment judge Sandy Kemp forced to issue more than a dozen corrections described as “clerical mistakes, errors and omissions”.........
