Farage in Falkirk? It should make our stomachs heave to have him north of the border

Amid allegations of anti-semitism and the targeting of Glasgow children, it is an affront that the leader of Reform dares cross the border into Scotland, our Writer at Large, Neil Mackay, argues.

Where precisely is the bottom of the barrel for Nigel Farage? How low can he possibly go before there is no further to sink morally?

Perhaps, though, that’s the wrong question to ask, because for Farage, evidently, there is no bottom, no low he won’t stoop to morally.

So it would be better, then, to ask those who support him, and the super-rich donors who fund him: where is your rock bottom? What will it take to sicken you? How little morality do you have left as a human being?

Holocaust survivors are now demanding that Farage tell the truth and apologise for the antisemitic comments that fellow pupils at the private school he attended allege he made toward Jewish pupils.

Peter Ettedgui says Farage would “sidle up to me and growl ‘Hitler was right’ or ‘Gas them’, sometimes adding a long hiss to simulate the sound of the gas showers”.

Nick Hearn, a banker who describes himself as “conservative with a small-c”, says he regularly saw Ettedgui abused by Farage.

In total, 28 former pupils and teachers say they witnessed racist or antisemitic behaviour by Farage at Dulwich College. Cyrus Oshidar said Farage called him a “P**i”.

Another student of Asian heritage, in the same year as Farage, described him as an open racist who would say “Enoch Powell was........
