Going from never having tried a whisky from China in March to suddenly standing in front of a Chinese Whisky Distillery in May felt incredibly surreal.

I had the pleasure of being invited by the lovely team at Pernod Ricard China to see their distillery, The Chuan, which is located near Emeishan in the Sichuan region.

It was all such an incredible experience, and now it almost feels like a distant dream.

The distillery is elegant, and you can clearly see how different details around the site have been inspired by the beautiful surrounding landscape.

The production takes place in two nearby buildings, where visitors can admire the copper stills and rows of washbacks through glass walls.

I might need to put a spoiler warning here, but I can't esist telling you about the most dramatic feature of The Chuan.

The centrepiece of the grounds is a circular pyramid-shaped building which could have been straight out of a James Bond film, especially with the Emei........
